During a week of festivities in Dallas, Texas, Tesnim—visiting from Toronto—was violently struck one night by a vehicle. A group of teenagers recklessly launched fireworks into a crowd and, while fleeing the scene, hit Tesnim with their car. Witnesses watched in horror as she flipped over the vehicle and landed hard—crushing her left foot on impact.

The result? Severe injuries requiring multiple surgeries, an extended hospital stay, and long-term recovery—all without the safety net of medical coverage.
