This year, my birthday looks a little different.

I never imagined I would be in a position where I’d need to ask for help like this, but right now my dad and I are facing an urgent and overwhelming transition. After surviving a major stroke a few years ago, he is now experiencing a sudden and rapid onset of Alzheimer’s.

With this diagnosis, I’ve had to step into full-time caregiving almost overnight. His needs have increased quickly, and I am doing this on my own while missing work and navigating an emergency housing change to ensure he is safe.

The good news is — we found a home where I can properly care for him. That alone feels like a miracle. But the financial strain of moving and increased care needs has been heavy.

For my birthday this year, the greatest gift would be support during this transition. Any donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward housing costs, care supplies, and stabilizing this next chapter for us.
