We have never done this before, but find ourselves in a very difficult situation now On Saturday (december 12th) we noticed that our 9 months old boy Tesla was not acting quite himself. He usually loves to eat, and always finishes everyones plates of wet food, he also loves to run and play with his friends. However now he was simply laying on the table, not wanting to play, eat much, or do anything. As he had a fever we decided to go to the Vet hospital with him that evening, and they wanted to keep him until Sunday. The vets did ultra sounds, x-rays, bloodworks etc and they landed on a diagnosis of dry FIP.
We have spent the last two days trying to figure out what to do, we know that there is one cure for FIP, but it is very expensive and will most likely cost upwards of $5000, although we are not totally sure about the cost yet. Because of Coronavirus the prices seem to have gone up. We want to give Tesla a chance, but unfortunately that is too much money for us. He does of course have pet insurance, but unfortunately the FIP treatment is not covered by that. If only it was covered then we would not need to ask for help. Luckily our insurance will help us pay for followup visits to the vet, which we will need to do if we manage to start treating him.
We are devastated that this is happening to our sweet, funny, young boy. Luckily Tesla is not in such a terrible shape yet, but the sooner we can start with medication, the easier he will heal. But starting the cure, if we can't afford to finish it, will be a lot harder than not starting the cure at all..
We really don't like asking for money in this way, but if it can save our lovely boy then we need to try. We will be SO greatful for any help we can get, Tesla deserves to live, and we hope we can give that to him.
If we by some miracle should get more funds than we need the remaining will be donated to an organization that helps animals in need.
Thank you so much in advance, please help us share this
