Thank you all again for your generous contributions to my gofundme campaign in 2021! Because of you, I was able to complete 1 more year of medical school.

Now, I am in my final year of the CUNY School of Medicine and have already completed my third year clinical rotations and exams. I am currently participating in a program at Columbia University on Addiction, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience and then a Summer Research Internship at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. I will graduate in May of 2024.

As a DACA recipient, I am ineligible for federal student financial aid and loans. Nonetheless, I have been tenacious and proactive in continuing to secure funds for my education. In addition to the GoFundMe, I’ve continued to successfully fundraise. I received a 50% tuition primary care commitment scholarship from the CUNY School of Medicine, as well as a $30,000 scholarship from the Gray’s Foundation, a $10,000 scholarship from the Road To 120 Foundation, a $22,000 gift from Lee Perlman, and a $10,000 scholarship from an anonymous donor. Of my $100,000 tuition balance, I now only owe $30,000. Unfortunately, CUNY will not agree to a payment plan for this balance and I’ve been locked out of registration for my final year of medical school classes.

I have overcome so much already including unstable housing, a four hour round-trip commute, responsibility of caretaking for my younger siblings, and limited income for food and personal expenses. As a first generation immigrant who has had my own share of difficulties navigating the healthcare system, I hope to add my experiences to the work of improving health outcomes in communities that are often overlooked. I am steadfast in my pursuit of becoming a doctor and am determined to graduate. Please consider making a donation towards my medical school tuition.
