My name is Debbie Obara and this bittersweet story is about my friend Terese Laraine "Terry" Meuse who passed away at home on Friday November 28, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. I became friends with Terese about three years ago. We met through her daughter, Shauna Demers, and I had the pleasure of getting to know her during this time. We attended concerts and events and went out to dinner frequently. This lady, who was dealing with cancer, never once complained to me as she faced everything with such courage.

What stood out for me during the three years was the love she had for her family, even a few days before her passing, during a hospital visit, she told me that she was adamant about participating in “build a bear” with her granddaughter Brexlin, an event they did together over the past few years. And guess what, when she got out of the hospital, she followed through with keeping the tradition with Brexlin knowing it would be her last time.

Terry’s humor was a breath of sunshine whenever I was with her. Her love for her daughter was deep, as she shared stories about their connection. But the thing that stood out is that she spent many years helping people in the capacity of CNA for 28 years in the childbirth center of Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Indeed, this woman and I were kindred spirits.

My job now, I feel, is to reach out to all of you and ask for a donation to help Terry’s family with the expense that comes with honoring this beautiful soul. It is the last thing we can all do to help honor Terese Laraine "Terry" Meuse. I know in my heart that Terry would not want her family, namely her daughter Shauna, to be burdened with any financial cost.
