Help Terry Kemp Rebuild After Palisades Fire

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

The recent Palisades fire has devastated countless lives, and unfortunately, one of those lives affected is that of our dear friend, Terry Kemp. Terry left with only the clothes on his back, traveling up north for a short weekend trip to see a friend. The short trip turned into weeks of uncertainty and horror. Like so many, he was in shock and unsure what to do. Given the fires, he decided to stay up north until the fires came under control. He was unable to get to his place until last week when the roads finally opened to the Pacific Palisades. Sadly, although the building was still standing, he was devastated to find his apartment covered in two inches of soot. All his clothes and possessions were damaged beyond use.

Terry has been a dedicated volunteer at the Lake Shrine for over 30 years. Whether as an usher, a houseboat volunteer, assisting with weddings, or helping with Sunday school, Terry has always been there for others with kindness, humility, and a willingness to serve. If you’ve spent time at the lake lot on Sundays, you’ve likely seen him lending a hand with a smile. Now, it’s our turn to help him in his time of need.

Terry didn’t have rental insurance, and already barely recovering in his job in the catering industry after the pandemic, this fire was truly heartbreaking and financially backbreaking. The funds raised here will cover what FEMA does not, helping him start his life from the ground up, as he works to get back on his feet.
