Title: A Little Help Toward Stability for My Daughter and Me

Asking for help is not easy for me, but sometimes life stacks hardships faster than one person can carry alone.

Over the last year, my daughter and I have faced one challenge after another. I lost my car in an accident, then the replacement car broke down just months later. In February, I survived an assault that required surgery, which kept me out of work during recovery. While I’m grateful that medical expenses were covered, the loss of income during that time made it impossible to keep up with rent and transportation costs.

For the last 8 months, my landlord showed me incredible kindness by allowing me to pay what I could, when I could. He recently passed away, and with his passing comes uncertainty about our housing. I want to honor the chance he gave me by catching up and keeping a stable home for my daughter.

I normally catch up on rent each year with my tax return, but between car troubles and time missed from work, that wasn’t possible this year. Since I’m self-employed in the events industry, showing “proof of income” to get reliable transportation has also been a challenge. Without a car, I can’t consistently get to work—and without work, I can’t get ahead.

I’m not asking for a handout. I’m asking for a hand up to break out of this snowball and get back to steady ground. The funds raised will go toward rent and reliable transportation, giving my daughter and me stability while I continue working and rebuilding.
