My name is Terry, but many people know me as Mississippi Bubba. I’ve always been the kind of person who would give the shirt off my back to help anyone in need. I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for help myself, but right now, I’m facing one of the toughest challenges of my life.

I am currently in liver failure and now kidney failure. The only place I can get the care I need is at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, which is five hours away from my home in Pensacola. The costs of traveling back and forth, staying in hotels, and making sure the person who takes me doesn’t lose their pay are more than I can handle on my own. I’ve been clean and sober since January 22, 2025, and I’ve done everything asked of me to stay healthy. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but right now, I’m waiting for a bed to become available at Shands, and I need to be ready to go when the call comes.

I’m reaching out to my friends, family, and anyone who can help. I want to live, and I want to keep fighting.
