Over the last 5 years, I've worked tirelessly to save as many cats as I can. Two years ago, I took control of a feral cat population on the Southside of Savannah, GA. I TNRd 50+ feral cats and fostered/adopted out an equivalent amount. Terry came into my colony as a "feral" begging for a better life. He's super affectionate and loving. He loves belly rubs, couch cuddles, kick sticks, laser pointers, and chilling in pop up tunnels. Unfortunately, he has had several health issues that needed to addressed before I could even think about adopting him out. We started with diarrhea which took 2 months and multiple rounds of meds to clear. Then, we addressed his eye. After visiting a specialist, it was determined that his watery, half-openned condition is a result from an untreated URI as a kitten and will forever be the way it is. There is no active infection now, but eye drops help make him more comfortable and surgery to move the third eye lid isn't necessary. Phew! Now, I am working on his teeth. Terry is FIV+ and suffers from inflamed gums. He drools throughout the day and his gums bleed every time he eats, even with wet food. He needs a full mouth extraction to find more comfort. Through several calls and research, I found a vet in Savannah that can safely do this procedure, but it's going to be extremely expensive. I need help. I already have so much money into this well-worth it boy, but I have 7 other cats and 2 dogs of my own to support. Ultimately, I would like Terry to be adopted into a loving home, but I clearly cannot put him up for adoption with the condition he's in. Any help is appreciated and if there is any money over the vet bill, it will go directly toward food or health care for the other 40+ colony cats I care for each and every day.
