This is my amazingly beautiful and strong mom Terry. We haven't told many but she has stage 3 breast cancer. She had an abnormal mammogram in January and since has had every test and biopsy under the sun. She had no symptoms and it was 3 years since her last mammogram. They found a total of 8 tumors within both breasts and in her axillary lymph nodes, and 3 lung nodules. On June 23rd she had a radical double mastectomy and axillary dissection. Pathology from surgery came back worse then expected and they decided that chemo was now necessary. She will be receiving 4 rounds of a dual chemo regimen of Cytoxin and Taxotere and then will receive 5 weeks of 5 days a week radiation. These medications cause you to loose your hair, nail infections( so she can no longer where her bright nail polish she has always been known for), mouth sores and several other unfavorable side effects. There are things they suggest you get to make you suffer a little less during all of it. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover any of it which is why we are asking for help. She really wants to wear a cold cap during chemo to prevent her from loosing all of her hair but it is $365 per session and she will be having 4 sessions. She has already lost her breasts andcan't even wear nail polish so if she can save her bright red hair it would mean the world to her. She has stayed so positive through everything and finding out that insurance doesn't cover and we can't afford the fee for the paxmon treatments finally broke her and it was only the second time she has cried through this. My mom dedicated her life to helping others as a NICU nurse of 40 years and has always helped out anyone in need so it breaks my heart that I can't help her now. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated. If you can't give please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through the fight of her life.
