Update2: Our mom Terri passed away peacefully at 3:33 am on November 4th with her 2 daughters by her side. She fought a hard fight, and we are thankful she is no longer in pain. We are planning services at Schrefflers funeral home in Kankakee and could use assistance please and thank you. Mom was inpatient for close to 5 months and there are many bills that need to be taken care of. Her daughter’s parking bill alone for Northwestern Memorial was over $400. Thanks again.

Update: Mom spent 2 weeks in a rehab facility in Chicago. On October 15th she was brought to Northwestern Memorial ER and admitted the following day. She is on a very strong chemo regimen that is causing her to go into a state of delirium. She is currently being fed through her port as she is unable to swallow food.

Her daughters have been staying with her as they are able. Parking at Northwestern is $56 a day! We appreciate any help you are able to provide. Thank you!

Our mother Terri began suffering from severe pain in April of this year. On June 24th she woke up unable to feel her legs. She fell 7 times that morning before being taken to the hospital. She was transferred from Kankakee to Joliet. While there, her paralysis worsened, as did her symptoms. She spent a month at St Joseph’s before being transferred to rehab for continued care and physical therapy, where she spent another month.

Labor Day weekend, after losing our 3rd appeal with Medicare, Terri was discharged to her daughter’s home. She made it 2 days before her daughter called 911. New imaging was done and several masses were found in Terri’s tailbone/pelvic region. A biopsy was performed, and the following day Terri was transferred to the University of Chicago.

After another biopsy, numerous tests, and a PET Scan, it was determined Terri has B Cell Lymphoma. Most likely, non Hodgkin’s lymphoma (they are still waiting for final pathology to come back). Terri has been started on chemotherapy while inpatient. Once discharged, she will go back to rehab, and then eventually back to her daughter’s home. She will have outpatient chemo in either Champaign or Chicago and will need to be transported by family to those appointments.

We are starting this gofundme in hopes to offset the incoming and future medical bills. Her daughters are caring for her, her home, and her dogs which does require lots of driving. Also medical bills, medical equipment, and assisting with changes at home to make things more comfortable for Terri, such as ramps, railings, etc.. Terri has been left paralyzed from the waist down due to the position of the tumors to her spinal cord and the nerves that control all function to the lower half of the body. She has lost bladder and bowel function from the paralysis and now requires catheters. She is requiring 24/7 care, supervision, and monitoring and these funds will help ensure her safety as she fights for her life. Thank you!
