On Monday, early in the morning, Terri — known lovingly by many as Mama Butz — lightly bumped her abdomen on the metal footboard of her bed. It didn’t seem serious at the time. There was barely any pain, no noticeable scratch, and she went on with her day as usual.

As the week went on, things took a frightening turn. The pain grew worse. The spot opened into wounds. She became sick, weak, and exhausted, but still tried to push through and keep working.

By Friday, she finally went to the ER — and discovered how serious it truly was.

That small bump had turned into a severe infection. Mama Butz is now fighting staph, strep, a positive blood culture for Gram-positive cocci, cellulitis, and sepsis.

What started as something simple has become a very real medical emergency, and she now needs all the strength, support, and love we can offer as she faces this overwhelming battle.
