Help Terri and Madison rebuild their lives
Donation protected
My name is Terri Marchand. I have lived in Hyannis with my family for many years. I, like so many of you, I’m sure, am a humble person, and do not like to ask for help, Recently, my family, has lost so much in just a short time, and I find myself in a position where I feel I must ask for help. Covid was just the beginning of our personal loss. We have been trying to make ends meet for about 3 years since Bill (My Husband) became terminally ill. He had been collecting a small amount from disability since he was finally approved a few years ago, and most recently our teen daughter was able to get a part time job, while only a Junior in High School, to help with the household bills.
This past December, we woke up to find the outside of our house on fire, just days before Christmas Of course, this was devastating, as the fire destroyed much of the electrical wiring, making the home unlivable for us. Bill needed medical care on a regular basis at that time and could not survive without the electricity in working order so my husband was admitted to the hospital, and me and Madison had to relocate. As if this wasn’t bad enough, when I attempted to get a loan to pay the $3000 - $5000 needed to pay an electrician to fix the wiring,…….it was then discovered that a family member who had been previously paying the land taxes,….had ceased to do so over 5 years ago,…leaving a Twenty Thousand dollar debt that would need to be paid on the property before I could even pull a permit to do ANY work on the home!! Although I was extremely glad to hear that I would be approved for a $20,000 loan to at least keep our home, unfortunately, this would leave us still needing to come up with the $3000 for the electrical work that needed to be done in order for us to safely move back in. My Daughter and I started saving for the electrician’s payment right away.
Sadly, Bill’s health took a turn for the worse much sooner than anyone expected, and he was placed on Hospice care just a one week ago! I went Sunday, with our teenage daughter to say goodbye to my beloved Husband and her loving Father on Sunday, and on Monday morning, he passed away, at the Mcarthy Center, in Sandwich. I, of course gave all of our savings to help with the funeral and burial.
This is a devastating loss for us, and leaves us in a very difficult situation, where we are grieving, and needing to push forward so that we can save enough to get back into our home……with even less income than before
As I said before, I am at a loss, and know that many people have troubles right now, but I am asking more so that I can regain a home environment for my daughter, who has lost too much already, and needs to be back home so that she can try to feel like a normal teen in any way again! I am desperate to give her a feeling of normalcy again, in any way I can. I am asking for anyone that can, to donate any amount that they can to help my small family get through this and get back home!! I will be so grateful for ANY and ALL help that is offered!! If people are unable to help with a donation, if you could please just share it so that people that might want to are able to see it too! Thank you so much!
