Hello, My husband is Terrance and I am Gordon. Up until recently, we've been living paycheck to paycheck. I decided to leave my job last month to take on a new job at a grocery store opening up here in town. During the interim between jobs, I was going to DoorDash with the little bit of savings we had to cover bills until the new paychecks started coming in.
Well, the Universe had other plans. 2 days after my last day at my last job, we were over 80 miles from home and our car broke down. We had to pay all our saving to tow it back just to find out that the engine was totaled and it would cost more to fix it than what we owed on it, so we let it get repossessed as we cannot afford to pay on a vehicle we cannot use or even afford to fix.
Terrence is working as much as he can at Dollar General but he only makes $12.75/hr and only gets about 20-30 hours a week and has to now walk to work and back every day. I have no problems walking or biking to a job, I just cannot find anything that is close enough that I can do. I have a couple prospects, one a construction gig for a while which would be great and another work-at-home job which would be spectacular. Alas, these are not very close at hand yet.
Now, the Government is shut down so any Federal benefits we would qualify for just won't happen. We did qualify for SNAP but now those aren't even coming in due to the current political strife in the Country.
We only have enough food for a couple more days and no way to pay our bills: Rent ($905/mo), Renter Ins. ($25/mo), Electric ($80/mo), Gas ($40/mo), Phone ($50/mo) and Xfinity ($60/mo).
We're looking for anyone who has the means to help us reach our goal of at least $1,800-$5,000 so we can use a portion of that to offset what we can't pay this month and the rest to try and find the cheapest vehicle I can find.
Thank you in advance and thanks for even just taking the time to read this, even if you cannot help, the thoughts and wishes are warmly welcomed regardless.
