Help Teri's Hughes Poole Rebuild After Devastating Fire

Hello, my name is Teri and my family home burned down on Monday, March 3, 2025. We live in Deer Park Texas. Everyone got out safe. This is the home I grew up in and have lived in since 2012 when my parents passed away in a tragic accident. Myself, my husband, my son, his wife, and 2 children, one being special needs, lived there. I have been out of town working, so we were not there, but my son's family was there. We all lost everything, including my son's car, over 60 years of pictures, paperwork, furniture, electronics, toys, clothes—the list goes on and on. It is so heartbreaking to see it all gone.

Now we have to start the cleaning up. And we are staying in a hotel for as long as we have funds. In the mean time we are looking for a rent house. So far they are way out of our price range.

My granddaughter (9) is a Girl Scout and she lost all of her cookies she was wanting to sell, 1,250 boxes. She is a huge fan of Morgan Wallen, and her whole room had Morgan Wallen banners on the wall. She had so many clothes with him on them; it is all gone. My grandson (4) is special needs and non-verbal. He loved dinosaurs; his bedding was glow-in-the-dark. He loved his bed and toys. They have lost so much, to be so young to have this much heartbreak. My daughter-in-law lost a Barney stuffed animal she got when she was little. It reminded her of her mother who passed away when she was 10. She lost all the pictures of her mother. My son lost all of his tools that he used daily to make a living for his family.

And me, I don't even know where to start on what I lost. That home is where I grew up; there was so much of my mom and dad's things inside that I can't ever replace. I lost more than just a house; I truly lost my home, that I have worked to keep from the bank from taking it when my parents passed away. This was the only home my grandkids know. The home I was never going to sell because I always wanted to have a place for any of my kids or grandkids to live during hard times.

I had no homeowners insurance; I just couldn't afford it along with my house note, which was over $1,800 a month.

I am going to need funds to help with a fence around the home, funds for cleanup, roll-off dumpsters, and funds to help get a rental house that will allow pets. My grandkids lost 3 cats, but with the help of my daughter, she was able to run in and save the 4 dogs. They will need all new furniture, beds, TVs, bedding—again, the list goes on and on.

My son has his own small business building fences and remodeling. He lost all of his tools and can't even work right now. He lost their only car.

We need help in paying for a hotel. It is $900 a week with pets. We have not found a rent house that we can afford that allows pets. Please help if you can. Every little bit helps. Thank you
