Hello, we are Jashier Hinojos and Karen Vital, we are writing on behalf of our loving mother, Teresa Hinojos, who lives in North Platte, Nebraska. Never in our minds did we think something like this would ever happen to our mother. We are reaching out to as many people who come across our path in supporting our mother, who was diagnosed recently in April with Multiple Myeloma-which is considered a rare and incurable form of cancer.

For nearly a year, our mother was misdiagnosed. She started off with constant pain, numbness on her left leg, pain on her lower back, hips and fatigue, along with these symptoms, the most recent symptoms are loss of appetite, weight loss and hair loss, everything she endures keep her up all night, no right answers were coming in. She has her good days and bad days. Watching her struggle after unanswered questions was difficult and heartbreaking to see. We watched her health decline because we were being told it was something else. By the time the correct diagnosis came, the cancer was very much advanced and aggressive.

Our mother is 66 years old, with so much to give, and yet so much has been taken away. The diagnosis has been a shock to everybody in our family. We all understand that cancer could not have been preventable, but so much time was lost without proper treatment. She is proud of both her two adult children and a caring grandmother to her four grandchildren who adore her. We are her motivation. She is not done living. She wants to see her grandchildren grow up, celebrate birthdays, holidays, be there for every milestone, and have every hug.

What we thought for our mother, an everyday routine or making plans, now has become visit after visit to doctors, radiation, chemotherapy treatments, and physical therapy that was put on hold because of the pain, not to mention possibly a bone marrow transplant in the near future. Many medications have been given for our mother to take, but they seem not to take effect. The pain is getting worse. She has cancer all over her body, but mainly on her head, spine, and ribs.

Now that our mother is on the right path with treatments, we are doing as much as we can as a family, but we know we can’t do this alone. We want her to focus on healing on this very long journey ahead of her without adding any more stress. We are asking for help with help to cover medical expenses. Any and all donations will be going toward medical bills, prescription costs, and anything else that is not covered by insurance. Any amount helps, and every dollar counts or even sharing helps us spread the word, too. Thank you for your time. Thank you for keeping our mother in your thoughts and prayers.

Hola, somos Jashier Hinojos y Karen Vital. Estamos escribiendo en nombre de nuestra querida madre, Teresa Hinojos, que radica en North Platte, Nebraska. Nunca imaginamos que algo así le podría pasar a nuestra madre. Estamos recurriendo a todas las personas que se crucen en nuestro camino para pedir su apoyo para nuestra madre, quien fue diagnosticada recientemente en Abril con Mieloma Múltiple, una forma de cáncer considerada rara e incurable.

Durante casi un año, nuestra madre fue mal diagnosticada. Todo comenzó con dolor constante, entumecimiento en la pierna izquierda, dolor en la parte baja de la espalda, en las caderas y fatiga. A estos síntomas se sumaron recientemente la pérdida de apetito, pérdida de peso y caída del cabello. Todo lo que soporta le impide dormir por las noches, y no recibíamos respuestas claras. Tiene días buenos y malos. Verla luchar sin respuestas fue muy difícil y desgarrador. Vimos cómo su salud empeoraba mientras nos decían que era otra cosa. Para cuando llegó el diagnóstico correcto, el cáncer ya estaba muy avanzado y muy agresivo.

Nuestra madre tiene 66 años, con tanto por ofrecer, y sin embargo, tanto le ha sido arrebatado. El diagnóstico fue un impacto para toda nuestra familia. Sabemos que el cáncer no pudo haberse prevenido, pero se perdió mucho tiempo sin el tratamiento adecuado. Ella está orgullosa de sus dos hijos adultos y es una abuela cariñosa de sus cuatro nietos, quienes la adoran. Nosotros somos su motivación. Ella no ha terminado de vivir. Quiere ver crecer a sus nietos, celebrar cumpleaños, días festivos, estar presente en cada momento importante y recibir cada abrazo.

Lo que antes era una rutina diaria o hacer planes, ahora se ha convertido en visita tras visita al médico, sesiones de radiación, tratamientos de quimioterapia y fisioterapia, la cual tuvo que suspenderse por el dolor. Además, existe la posibilidad de que necesite un trasplante de médula ósea en un futuro cercano. Se le han recetado muchos medicamentos, pero parece que no surten efecto. El dolor está empeorando. Tiene cáncer en todo el cuerpo, pero principalmente en la cabeza, la columna vertebral y las costillas.

Ahora que nuestra madre está en el camino correcto con los tratamientos, estamos haciendo todo lo posible como familia, pero sabemos que no podemos hacerlo solos. Queremos que ella se enfoque en sanar durante este largo camino sin tener que cargar con más estrés. Estamos pidiendo ayuda para cubrir los gastos médicos. Todas las donaciones se destinarán a facturas médicas, costos de medicamentos recetados y todo lo que no esté cubierto por el seguro. Cualquier cantidad ayuda, y cada dólar cuenta.
