Hi, my name is Joanne, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my sister, Teresa, who was recently in a devastating car accident in Florida. I live in Pennsylvania and wish more than anything that I could be there with her every step of the way to help her through her recovery. Since I can’t be by her side in person, I’m hoping to support her in the best way I can—from afar—by reaching out to our communities for help.

While driving down a two-lane highway, another vehicle tried to pass too slowly in front of her, causing a tragic head-on collision. Teresa’s car was completely totaled, and she sustained serious injuries that will take a long and difficult recovery to heal.

Anyone who knows Teresa knows she has one of the biggest hearts. For almost 40 years, she has worked in nursing, dedicating her entire career to caring for others. She’s the one who always shows up when someone’s in pain, the one who listens, comforts, and gives her all—often forgetting to take care of herself in the process. Now, Teresa is the one who needs our help.

She is the sole provider and driver for her family, and because of her injuries, she won’t be able to return to work or drive for quite some time. During her recovery, she will have to count on others and possibly a medical van to get to rehabilitation centers. The medical bills will pile up, and she will face the reality of not being able to cover her mortgage, daily expenses, or even replace her vehicle that was destroyed in the crash.

It’s heartbreaking to see someone who has spent her whole life helping others now have to struggle to take care of herself. But we know Teresa—she’s strong, determined, and full of faith. With some support from those who love her, she can focus on what matters most: healing and rebuilding her life.
