Hi! My name is Rhea and I've been a friend of and vocal coach for Teresa since 2023. I believe we all deserve access to safe housing, medical care and the resources that support our wellbeing. I am so proud of Teresa for deciding to ask for support, after 2.5 years of taking care of the cost of treatment for Cercival Cancer, on their own. Let's show them that we take care of each other, in the same ways they show up for people in their life!
Teresa is an artist, political theorist, and has been working to help people get asylum across EU. Teresa has been located in Berlin since last October, after leaving an abusive relationship and needing a place to go. They currently don't have anywhere else to go and need to complete their treatment in Berlin, without access to health insurance.
Medical Details:
Teresa was diagnosed with the last stage of stage 1 Cervical Cancer 2.5 years ago. They have already had a cone biopsy to remove growth, thought they were in full remission, until a recurrence of the growth was found via a regular check-up. Radiation therapy will likely be needed until the end of October, to ensure complete remission. Teresa has already gotten several lymph nodes removed on their own. Post treatment after-care consists of: mh therapy, nutrition supervision, physical therapy.
Radiation Costs
Feb-Aug $2,600 radiation every month, 3x per week = $20k
Physical Therapy Costs
$80 each visit, 3x week = $240/week, $6,720 total for 7 months
What Your Support Will Mean
While being a touring musician is important to Teresa, they need to not rely so heavily on touring, until the end of October , while radiation and physical therapy is taking place.
Your financial support will provide them with some much needed breathing room, to focus on things beyond just survival, so that they can heal and thrive.
Words about Teresa's art/work:
Teresa has been described as; "a trans artist working across sculpture, durational performance, music and text....Their work draws from their life experiences of illness, participation in prison abolition movements, and their trans identity, tackling the subjects of the construction of subjectivity, consumption of the body, mediated via technology and spectacle, collective memory, opacity and alternative temporalities... they are at the forefront of playfully avant-garde and disobedient techno globally."
