I am raising money to help a young lady in my church purchase a wheelchair. Here is her story in her own words:
Three years ago, during thanksgiving of 2020, my son woke me up for breakfast. When I tried to pick up my daughter, I realized that I couldn’t move my legs. I was rushed to the hospital where I underwent multiple tests in which my results were all normal. Since then, I’ve been working with providers from WellStar, Emory, and the Shepherd Center to understand and treat my health conditions. Although I do not have any answers as to the origin of my immobility, I continue to create a life worth living for my children and I. While I receive some financial assistance that helps to cover some medical costs through insurance, not all of the necessary medical supplies that I need to assist me with mobility are covered. For instance, I’m in need of a better wheelchair that’s fitted for me (the one I have was donated to me so it’s not personalized to fit my needs) as well a standing frame. The standing frame helps with circulation and to relieve any pressure from sitting on my bottom so that recovery of my wounds is possible. This wheelchair will greatly improve my quality of life.
