Support Tenoa Spencer’s Recovery
Tenoa Spencer is currently facing a life threatening medical crisis. Since early March, he has been hospitalized due to severe and compounding health complications, leaving him unable to work and focused entirely on fighting for his life.
What began as a diagnosis of Human Metapneumovirus quickly escalated into severe pneumonia, resulting in fluid and blood in both lungs and a partially collapsed lung. He remains hospitalized as his body continues to fight through this critical condition.
During this time, Tenoa was also diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis, a life threatening condition where the body cannot produce enough insulin and begins breaking down fat for energy, causing dangerous levels of acid in the blood. Around the same time, he was also newly diagnosed with kidney disease. These diagnoses have all happened in rapid succession while he is still in the hospital trying to stabilize.
This is layered on top of a lifetime of serious health challenges. Tenoa was born with a heart defect and has undergone approximately ten heart surgeries and procedures, with more expected throughout his life. He is diabetic, has experienced a mini stroke, and has a compromised immune system, making recovery significantly more difficult.
At the same time, he is dealing with an ongoing and worsening spine condition that causes excruciating, debilitating pain every day. This condition requires surgery, but his body must first be stabilized before doctors can operate. His diabetes must be under control, yet that control is directly affected by pain, stress, infection, and blood pressure. Everything is connected, creating a cycle that makes his condition extremely difficult to manage and delays the care he urgently needs.
Beyond the physical toll, this has also taken a serious impact on Tenoa’s mental health. For a long time, he has carried this weight privately, feeling like he had to hold everything together and not show what he was going through. That has made it difficult for him to ask for help until now.
Because of this extended hospitalization, Tenoa is now facing serious instability in his day to day life. He does not currently have stable housing or reliable transportation, and is working to rebuild a foundation that allows him to be closer to the medical care and support he needs.
While insurance may help cover medical treatment, it does not cover lost income or basic living expenses. Tenoa relies on teaching, creative work, and entrepreneurial efforts to support himself, especially during times when his physical condition limits traditional work. Even now, he continues to push himself to find ways to work, often putting his body at further risk just to stay afloat.
We are asking for support to help relieve this burden so Tenoa can focus on stabilizing his health and rebuilding his life. Funds will go toward housing, essential living expenses, and supporting his recovery as he prepares for the next phase of care, including the spine surgery he urgently needs once stable.
Tenoa is someone who has always shown strength, resilience, and care for others. He is not someone who asks for help lightly. His goal is to regain his independence, rebuild, and continue pursuing his creative and entrepreneurial path.
Any support, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your support during this time.
