Help Us Create a Safe, Shaded Play Area for Our Little Ones!

Hello, wonderful community!

We are the Cool Kids Club, a group of passionate parents from Tenderfoot Family and Child Development Center, a non-profit childcare center in beautiful Gunnison, CO. Our mission is to raise funds specifically for sunshades for the playgrounds, ensuring that the children in our care have a safe, shaded place to play and learn during those hot summer months.

The summer sun in Gunnison can be intense, especially on our Toddler and Preschool playgrounds. While we love the sunny days, the strong UV rays pose a challenge. During the peak sun hours, our kids and teachers are outside playing, and it’s tough to keep them safe from the sun's harmful effects.

To tackle this issue, we came together as parents and formed the Cool Kids Club. We are dedicated to raising the necessary funds to provide sunshades and protective coverings for the playgrounds. We want to provide a safe, shaded area for the children and staff so that everyone can enjoy outdoor playtime without the risk of sunburns or long-term skin damage. By creating a shaded outdoor space, we will ensure that our children have a cool and safe area to play—no matter how hot the summer gets.

Why this matters:

Skin damage from UV rays can lead to permanent harm and increase the risk of skin cancer, and as caretakers of these precious kids, we want to prevent that. By helping us create a safer outdoor environment, you’ll be ensuring that children and teachers have a comfortable, protected space to engage in fun, enriching activities.
