Help Tena Buy a SAFE Rescue Transport Vehicle

From Tena Price:

THANK YOU to everyone who donated toward a new vehicle!! Here she is! Her name is "Joy". She is a beautiful 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and I love her! Thanks to all of you, I have a safe, reliable vehicle that gets great gas mileage and even has rear AC for the dogs! And Toyotas last forever! I am so grateful to each of you, along with an amazing friend who wishes to remain anonymous. You've changed lives, literally. In addition to changing my life, you've contributed to saving many dogs' lives in the future. I am so blessed to have so many friends by my side. WE do this TOGETHER!

******************************
Hello everyone,

We've decided to officially close this fundraiser for Tena Price.  An anonymous donor has stepped in and given the remaining $19,000 needed for Tena to purchase the vehicle that makes the most sense for her to have -- a very highly efficient, safe and roadworthy Toyota Highlander.  She can fit two dog crates in the back, and still have space for hauling bags of food, medical supplies, emergency road supplies, and even another crate, if she has to have one.  We just couldn't wait any longer for the donations to come in -- driving the Blazer was just too risky for her.

Tena is so incredibly grateful to each of you for every single donation that she received for this. She has purchased the vehicle, and will no doubt be posting pictures of herself with rescued dogs now in her Highlander.

I want to thank everyone as well, for your kindness towards Tena.  I don't know anyone else who spends as much time as she does, sharing and posting about lost or abandoned dogs, or those needing rescue, or transporting dogs to foster or forever homes, or spending thousands of hours completing the necessary paperwork for vaccines, microchips, and vet bill payments for these dogs.  This is all 100% volunteer time.  She receives zero compensation for this.

We are all lucky that Tena is on this planet with us.  Without her unending  generosity and compassion, thousands of beautiful, loving Dalmatians and other dog would not be here with us, sharing our lives, and making our house a warm, loving home.

I feel so much more relieved, knowing that Tena can now do all this work, while driving a safe, reliable vehicle, that will get over 10 miles PER GALLON more than her old Chevy Blazer.  And, that it won't break down on the road, or mysteriously stop while cruising along the highway like the Blazer did a while back.

Your kindness is so appreciated, more than you will ever know.  Thank you all.

UPDATE:
Only $3,400 to make the MATCH!

We are so close to making this match!  Tena has found the car she wants, and we must move forward.  Help her cover the final costs, including sales tax and registration

Thank you for your help!!!!

HELP US MATCH $4,000!

Generous donors have stepped up, and want to have one last match for Tena Price!  If you have not donated yet, this is the time!  This will be our final ask, since she really needs to move on with this, and get this settled.  Tena wants to express her deep gratitude for all your kindness.  Please donate any amount, and if you have already donated, please SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER on your pages, and with your groups.  We are almost there!

Well, it's a little disappointing to see that some of the donations to Tena have been withdrawn.  I don't know why, but Tena loves you all just the same.

If you have it within your resources, and in your heart, to help make up that loss of $800, I know Tena would be so grateful. I would be grateful too, because every time we see her out on a transport, means that she's taking a risk.

Donate now, if you can, and help us get to this goal.  Thank you.

YOU DID IT!!!  You help make the $2,000 match for Tena's safer, more reliable rescue transport vehicle!!  THANK YOU ALL!!!  Please share this fundraiser -- we are more than 1/3 of our way to this goal!

A generous donor has committed to matching all donations up to $2,000! Your donation will have DOUBLE THE IMPACT! This donation match is only through the end of April so please donate today so we can take full advantage of this matching opportunity!  PLEASE DONATE NOW so we don't lose this funding!  Thank you!

Here is Tena Price with Sandy.  Tena rescued her, and got her into a foster home. It took a year to just get her healthy.  Tena then reached out to a trusted group who specializes in Pitbull mixes, and found Sandy a perfect environment for her training and behavioral help.  And then, Tena transported Sandy to her adopters in Longmont, CO, a 30-HOUR round-trip journey in a rainstorm, all while she had the flu and fever.  Tena will move mountains for the sake of a rescue dog.

We are nearly one quarter of the way to the goal -- only another $795 to go!  We can do this!  Tena has hundreds of friends on Facebook -- Can you take TWO MINUTES to donate $5?  If everyone did this, we would reach this target!

The photo above is from March 20, 2014, when I drove from Berkeley, CA to Waco, TX, to pick up what I thought was a "small Dalmatian mix."  I chose this photo today, because of the love it shows that Tena has for every single animal she rescues.  I've never known anyone so devoted to animals, that she would risk her life so often to save theirs.

Tena is hanging in there, renting vehicles or borrowing where she can to do transports.  It's really up to YOU and your network of friends to help her buy a safer, more reliable vehicle!  She is going into debt with every car rental, so the faster we can raise the funds she needs for a new vehicle, the better.  I would hate to think that dogs will lose their lives, because she couldn't afford to get there to pull them from the shelter.

Please consider donating, and please share this fundraiser with your network of family and friends!  Let them know what incredible work Tena does, and how much you care.  Thank you!

This is the second of three  very long road trips that Tena is making this month.  Because it is five hours of driving, she cannot trust her 1996 Blazer to make this journey.  For the moment, she is borrowing a friend's vehicle -- you may have seen the interior of this vehicle in pictures she's posted while transporting her Dalmatian, Hannah, for chemotherapy. She has to borrow for that as well, but this cannot go on forever, as this borrowed vehicle needs extensive work now.

Tena really needs your help if she is going to continue to volunteer her time and energy in transporting dogs to safe homes. Any amount you can donate will really help.  If you cannot donate right now, please share this fundraiser with your network of friends and family. Thank you!

***************************

This is one of three Road Trips that Tena has to make in the next few days; this one is six hours alone. And there are two other rescue trips in the works, all to save the dogs we love so much.

Please donate, and share this link. Without Tena doing this volunteer transporting, so many dogs' lives would be lost. We want Tena to be safe on the road -- she really needs a safe, reliable transport vehicle! Thank you for your help!

THANK YOU ALL who have donated so far!  Tena is amazed at your kindness, and is now feeling like she should be considering the next vehicle type.  In addition to the safety needs, she has criteria for cargo space (her two crates are 24"x36"x27" tall), so the back of the vehicle can't be too sloped; and the back seat MUST fold down flat.  And, it must have good acceleration, although this won't be a problem for most newer SUVs.  She's also keeping in mind any recall issues, and the repair history/customer satisfaction rate, using Consumer Reports. But we still need to raise at least another $10,000 for her to be within range of anything she can afford.

We have raised more than $6,000 for a new rescue transport vehicle for Tena Price!  She is so grateful to all of you who have donated towards this, because in addition to allowing her to save more dogs, it means that this new vehicle could help save her LIFE, by not breaking down in remote places, and being safer should there ever be an accident.

Tena is so deserving of this; she and her husband have only one vehicle between them.  If she is on the road for several days doing a transport, it means that if there is an emergency with one of her own dogs, her husband has no way to get them to the vet.  I can't imagine the heartbreak of something happening to her own dogs, while she is rescuing others.

Please donate, and SHARE this fundraiser with your friends and family.  Let them know that you support this effort, and that even a $5 donation will help make a difference.  Thank you!

This is the engine of Tena Price's 1996 Chevy Blazer, which blew the head gasket.
We are so thrilled that the Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado family of Dalmatian lovers has published Tena's story, and highlighted her good works. Thank you all for your wonderful donations!

Today Tena spent the day trying to save the lives of at least six dogs, struggling to find more people to foster desperate dogs, and then a wasp flew into her vehicle -- TWICE!

Tena made calls, sent posts out to potential foster homes, and made dozens of phonecalls.  Somehow in there, she fed and cared for her own dogs, followed up on other foster dogs to try and find permanent homes for them, and worked on the endless paperwork needed to keep up with all the rescued dogs medical care, vaccinations, and microchips.

Tena will be on the road soon, in the dead of winter.  It worries me, to send her out in a vehicle that's nearly 30 years old, that has worn transmission lines.  The upcoming repairs to this vehicle are endless.

Please consider donating now; even $5 will really help.  Thank you!

I've known Tena Price for nearly 10 years. We met when she was fostering a small Dalmatian mix, and I decided to drive to Waco, TX from the San Francisco Bay Area, and meet both Tena and the dog. While I had been corresponding with Tena for more than a year before that, from the moment we actually met, I knew I had met a truly giving, selfless person.

Tena drives her personal vehicle for tens of thousands of miles every year in the name of animal rescue and transport. She volunteers for Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado, a 510c3 nonprofit, which pays for her gas, but doesn't cover any repairs she needs, or towing, or insurance. But Tena loves animals, and does everything she can to ensure that every lost or abandoned animal that she learns about gets shared on Facebook or other social networks, and she keeps tabs on all of them. Visit her Facebook page now, and you will see that even through all this, she is still sharing every single dog she can, in hopes of saving a life. She is responsible for saving THOUSANDS of dogs over the years.

Tena has driven her 1996 Chevy Blazer into the ground. Recently she had the brakes and bearings replaced, but last week the head gasket blew, an incredibly expensive repair. It is bad enough that the Blazer is in need of yet another repair, but it couldn't come at a worse time: Tena needs to drive her own beautiful Dalmatian mix, Hannah, from Waco to College Station, TX for daily cancer treatments, nearly 200 miles round trip. Without a working vehicle, she cannot get there with Hannah for life saving treatments.

All of this comes just after she lost her heart dog, Pongo, to cancer a month before Hannah's diagnosis. She is just crushed under all the weight of these difficulties. But still she shares other dogs on her social media pages, and continues to try and save other dogs. She even helps other people in need, who have lost their homes, or have been taken advantage of by less scrupulous people. She makes a difference everywhere she goes.

It's time we rallied and helped Tena with some funding for a new, safe, fuel-efficient SUV, so she can continue her transport in safety. No more breakdowns in the middle of nowhere, no more emergency calls for help, and having the Blazer towed.  And a fuel-efficient vehicle will save Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado even more money, which can be used to save more animals.

Let's show Tena some love, and help her out! No donation amount is too small, or too large! Thank you all for your kindness and generosity for Tena. She deserves your care, and I know she will appreciate it.
