Save Tek Lama’s Life – Battling Stage 4 Cancer Spread to Lungs

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

We come to you with heavy hearts to share the most difficult chapter yet in our beloved Tek Lama’s (Tek Bahadur Lama / Tek Waiba) fight against cancer.

In 2023, Tek was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. With incredible courage, he underwent a major surgery followed by 12 rounds of chemotherapy. Those treatments took a huge toll on his body days of weakness, nausea, and pain but what kept him moving forward was the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and our community. Every message, every prayer, and every donation gave Tek the strength to push through one more infusion, one more difficult day. Without that encouragement, his first battle would have been ten times more difficult.

For a while, life felt hopeful again. But recently, Tek underwent a lung surgery, one of the scariest moments our family has ever faced. The results devastated us: doctors confirmed the colon cancer had spread to his lungs. Even worse, new nodules have already begun rapidly growing there.

At our latest appointment, his oncologist explained some burdening news: the focus for treatment now is not curing the cancer, but controlling it, slowing its growth, and preventing it from spreading further. To do this, Tek must begin a more aggressive chemotherapy plan with no set end date. This treatment will be stronger and harsher than his first, demanding a constant fight from Tek and leaving him physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. For our family, this news has been heartbreaking. Yet through all the pain and uncertainty, Tek’s courage and determination continue to shine. He refuses to give up, and we refuse to give up on him holding onto hope that with love, faith, and community support, brighter days are still ahead.

A Message to Our Community

The last GoFundMe showed us the incredible strength of the Nepali community and the kindness of friends near and far. We will never forget the love and generosity that carried Tek through his first battle. Without it, he would not have had the courage to endure every round of chemotherapy and to keep believing in life.
