Help Teisha Save Milo and Mac's Lives

My daughter Teisha Walker needs your help. On Thursday October 24th Teisha went to the Blackfoot Animal Shelter in hopes to find a Black Lab puppy. She had a rescue black lab growing up and decided she wanted her kids to have the same experience she had as a little girl. She saw two 10-week-old black lab puppies lying on the cold concrete snuggled together. One got up and greeted her while the other stayed back. It was the hardest decision to separate the two but she did. She took the one that greeted her home to the family and they named him Milo. Milo was very happy to have his 5 new humans to love on but you could tell he was missing his brother, but most of all so was Teisha. One of the employees at the shelter had stated that no one usually adopts the boys. She was heartbroken all night knowing that Milo’s brother was there all alone lying on the cold concrete. The next day, Friday the 25thshe went back to the Shelter and got Milo’s brother. They named him Mac. Milo and Mac were so happy to be reunited, they ran around in the large fenced yard rolling around in the leave piles and chasing the kids. They have the best life ever. Things changed rapidly on Sunday October 27th. They both became very lethargic, coughing, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea. She called the Idaho Falls Emergency vet Sunday night and they said “if you think you can, wait until your Vet opens in the morning and get them in.” She did just that. First thing Monday she got them into Ammon Vet, and were very accommodating and concerned. We all thought it was Parvo. They tested Milo, since he had the worst symptoms, but the Parvo test was Negative. They determined it was Kennel Cough and gave them each a shot and antibiotics to give to them daily. They both perked up and seemed to be on the mend. Friday, November 1st (only a week since she picked them up from the shelter) Milo took a turn for the worse and became very lethargic again and would not get up. Teisha carried him outside and when he tried to walk, he started coughing and then vomiting but it was coming out his nose. She called the vet and got him right back in. They immediately did and x-ray and one of his lungs was completely filled with fluid and said she needed to get him to the emergency vet in Idaho Falls right away, his Kennel Cough had turned to a Respiratory Infection and pneumonia. The Ammon vet called the emergency vet so they were ready for Milo when he got there. He needed to get on IV fluids and be put in an Oxygen tank ASAP. When Teisha explained how she just adopted the two pups to the ER vet they told her to call Blackfoot Animal Shelter and inform them what is going on. She called and had them on speaker phone so that the vet could help explain what is going on. They were very rude and told her they weren’t going to help her out with cost because she took them to Viking, the Idaho Falls ER Vet, and that they would have suggested somewhere else. The vet explained she did not have time to run the pup somewhere else. They refunded her the $200 neuter fee for both pups is all. Shame on them! Milo made it through the night but still very lethargic, they are going to try a different antibiotic today and leave him sedated and in the oxygen tank for a second day. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers he pulls out of this. Today she noticed that Mac is coughing again and has fluid coming out his nose. The vet told her to try old school treatment and take him into the bathroom with hot steam for 15 minutes every couple of hours. She has only had these two little guys for a week and has a Vet bill of $1000 and the emergency vet quoted her $4000. That’s hoping Mac doesn’t end up in there also. We are asking, out of the kindest of your heart, to help her pay for these little guys vet bills, any little bit helps. People, please spay and neuter your pets this is heart breaking! Thank you for your help!
