On Thanksgiving Day, we rushed Tego to the ER after noticing his gums were pale and he had been lethargic. He was unexpectedly diagnosed with IMHA, a life-threatening autoimmune disease where his body destroys its own blood cells, and immediately hospitalized. Since then, our holiday season has turned upside down. We’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster as he has undergone blood transfusions, steroids, and multiple treatments in an effort to save his life.
Tego was transferred to Penn Vet in Philadelphia, where they offer a specialized treatment called TPE. While it has helped improve his levels, he is now facing possible aspiration pneumonia. We are at a point no family should ever have to face, choosing between falling into overwhelming financial debt or fighting to save the life of the dog who has given us so much.
We are desperately asking for any support to help us continue my veteran husband’s service dog, Tego’s care. Please consider sharing his story, donating if you’re able, and keeping our boy in your thoughts. We truly appreciate anything you can do during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️
