Throughout my teenage years I have struggled immensely with anxiety and having confidence to do things that are new to me, so when I found out about this trip, I initially wasn't sure whether I would be able to push myself to do it. The idea of not really knowing anyone who is going on the trip and having to meet new people felt scary and out of my comfort zone. However, after learning more about what an incredible, once in a lifetime experience the trip is, I decided to take a risk and just go for it.

In Sri Lanka, I will have the opportunity to get involved with the local pre-schools and help them with English and drama lessons. Not only will this give me some great experience of working with children, but it will also give the children in Sri Lanka the chance to get more support in their learning and development. I will also have the opportunity to work in the local marine and wildlife conservatory, whether that be cleaning up beaches or helping release turtles, every little thing will help the Sri Lankan community.

I will be doing numerous activities and side hustles to fund the trip as it is a big cost. This will consist of fundraising events such as cake sales and events, as well as looking for a part-time job to earn some money to pay for it. I will also be doing a half marathon separate from this to raise money for the charity itself. However, I would really value support from my family in any way you can, big or small, to help me meet my goal!
