Help Teen Mothers with Transport

Charltan School Trust (www.charltanschool.org) seeks help purchasing a vehicle to provide safe and secure transport for the teen mothers and babies that reside at the organization's safe house. The Trust is in urgent need of a vehicle. Charltan has spent the last four years doing all its required work solely using public transportation. This is not ideal as the Trust supports pregnant teenagers who are high-risk pregnancies. Pregnant teens and mothers require transport to and from hospital visits, pharmacies, and transition from their current living situation to the safe house. Public transportation can also be a safety risk for these young girls and their children as well as unreliable in the case of an emergency.

Charltan has limited space in the safe house but provides vital outreach to outreach to other teen mothers in and around Harare. This outreach is severely hampered by the Trust's lack of its own vehicle. Charltan reaches out to approximately 100 teen mothers in the local area.

Charltan seeks to purchase a modest vehicle (e.g. Honda Fit) that can be outfitted with baby seats and will provide safe and reliable transportation.

A vehicle is necessary for Charltan to truly fulfill its mandate to support teen mothers and their children both at the safehouse and in the local community.
