Help Teddys broken eye

Hi.

My name is Jeremy I took over ownership of teddy 3 weeks ago.

His previous owner was poorly so couldn’t care for him any more.

I moved into a new bungalow last week with Teddy. It was a fresh start for us both.

On Thursday 30th at around 12pm someone opened my garden gate and purposely let Teddy out. Being in a new area he didn’t know where to go.

I realised no more than 5 minutes the gate was open and he was gone.

I went on a search around my area but couldn’t see him. I called the local vets and they said they’ll contact me if he showed up.

i asked in a shop and the lady said some couple had him and was taking him to the local vets.

Again I called the vets and they said yes he was with them but he had trauma to his eye.

(He has a chip but apparently it couldn’t be scanned as it was lost in his body)

I had quoted for insurance and it was due to start Monday 3rd.

This would have been perfect IF someone didn’t open my gate!

Anyways Teddy is going to lose his eye.

His eye has been stitched up and he’s on meds to prevent infection and painkillers.

The vets said they need to let the swelling decrease before they operate. They’ve stitched it for a week.

I will have a massive bill and the insurance will not acknowledge it as it happened BEFORE the cover started.

I do not have family to help and live alone.

I will try pet charities but it’s going to be more than they will cover.

Any help would help massively.
