Help Teddy Recover, Heal, and Rebuild His Life

First and foremost, we want to say thank you.
Because of your generosity, prayers, and support, Theodore now has a wheelchair — something we simply could not have accomplished without this community. That single piece of equipment has already made a meaningful difference in his safety, mobility, and day-to-day life, and we are deeply grateful.
As we continue this journey, we’ve learned that the true cost of sudden disability is far greater than we ever imagined. While the wheelchair was a critical first step, it is only one part of what’s required to keep Theodore safe, mobile, and able to heal at home.
Home Accessibility Is Now an Urgent Need
Our next urgent need is a ramp and accessibility modifications to our home. Basic daily tasks — getting in and out of the house, safely using the bathroom, standing or transferring without falling — now require equipment and structural changes we were not prepared for.
These modifications are not optional. They are essential for safety and injury prevention.
Caring for Each Other Safely
I also live with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and Fibromyalgia, which limit my ability to lift, carry, or manage physical strain. Having proper equipment allows me to safely help my husband without injuring myself.
These tools aren’t just medical devices — they give both of us the ability to face this season together with dignity, safety, and stability.
Why We Need Continued Support
In addition to accessibility needs, we are also facing the reality of ongoing medical and household expenses. The money we were forced to withdraw from retirement to survive this transition is nearly gone, and disability approval is still expected to take at least six more months.
Disability does not pause bills — and neither does recovery.
How Funds Will Be Used (Estimated 6-Month Needs)
• Basic living expenses (6 months) — ~$18,000
Rent, utilities, food, insurance, transportation, phone, internet, and essential household costs while Theodore is unable to work
• Home accessibility modifications — ~$2,000–$3,000
Wheelchair ramp, safer entry and exit access, bathroom safety upgrades, and interior modifications to reduce fall risk
• Medical & mobility equipment — ~$1,500–$2,500
Standing aids, shower chair, grab bars, lift chair, transfer and mobility supports
• CPAP machine & ongoing supplies — ~$1,000–$1,500
Machine, mask replacements, tubing, filters, and required maintenance supplies
• Medical transportation & appointment costs — ~$500–$1,000
• Future goal: Service dog
To assist with mobility and PTSD; any funds raised beyond immediate needs will be reserved for training and placement
Our Updated Goal: $25,000
Our original goal was much smaller, but as the full scope of needs became clear, we have updated our fundraising goal to $25,000. This reflects the real cost of keeping our family safe, housed, medically supported, and stable during this extended recovery period.
