Our beautiful son Teddy is 3 years and 8 months old, and we are raising money to give him the opportunity to walk.

Teddy has low muscle tone (hypotonia), which means he has very little strength in his legs. He also has hypermobile joints in his hips, knees and ankles, which makes it extremely difficult for him to stand and walk independently.

Teddy has had an MRI and genetic testing, but thankfully these have not shown anything that explains why he has such low muscle tone. At the moment, we have been told that it is simply low muscle tone, and with the right support, therapy and exercise, we know Teddy can continue to build the strength in his muscles.

We have been doing NHS physiotherapy since Teddy was just one year old, alongside private physiotherapy for the past two years. Teddy has worked so incredibly hard, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far he has come.

Teddy can now sit, crawl and, most recently, pull himself up to stand. ❤️

We recently had the opportunity to trial a piece of specialist equipment from Trexo Robotics, which allows Teddy to practise walking with the support he needs.

The machine does some of the work, but Teddy does some of the work too. During his trial, Teddy’s average level of participation was 46%.

To us, this was incredible. It showed us just how much Teddy can actively contribute to the walking movement when he has the right support. Seeing him take steps was something we will never forget. ❤️

We believe having regular access to this equipment alongside his physiotherapy could give Teddy the opportunity to practise walking again and again, helping him work on his strength, endurance and confidence.

The equipment is extremely expensive, and we are trying to raise £50,000 to help us get the equipment Teddy needs.

We know £50,000 is a huge amount of money, and we completely understand that not everyone will be able to donate. But every single donation, no matter how big or small, will mean the world to us.

❤️ Teddy has shown us he CAN take steps. We just need to give him the opportunity to keep going.

Teddy has already worked so hard to get where he is today. We want to give him every opportunity we possibly can to continue building his strength and working towards those all-important steps.

We know we can’t promise what the future will bring, but we can promise that we will keep fighting alongside Teddy and doing everything we can to give him the best possible chance.
