I’ve never done anything like this before, but a few people have recommended I reach out to my community for help.

I recently decided to leave my job in pursuit of a new career in photography, as well as a relocation to Chicago. My career with Starbucks turned quite toxic over the years. After a long leave of absence from the company as well as self demoting to a lower role with less responsibilities, it became clear I couldn’t survive in that world.

My timeline for moving to Chicago was to be around June. Unfortunately while I was out of town taking on some photo work, our apartment in Detroit caught fire. While not a total loss, most of our belongings are ruined and unit was deemed unlivable. Furniture, personal items, and most impactful, photography equipment were ruined. This has also forced my roommate, the lease holder, to accelerate our timeline of parting ways. He has been given the opportunity with the management company to move to another building and start a fresh lease. This means once I return home from the UK, I will be immediately packing what I have and moving to Chicago.

This is where I do something I am incredibly uncomfortable with, which is ask for help.

Ideally what would help the most is being booked for photo work. If you are in Chicago, have seen my work and thought about booking with me, I would be incredibly grateful to have the work.
