Help Teddy get Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Our son Teddy is a smart, sweet, funny 6 year old who has TOF/PA with MAPCAs. This is a congenital heart defect that is life threatening without major reconstructive surgery. He’s a walking miracle, so full of life with an oxygen level below 75%. His three older siblings adore him, and he lights up every room.
We arranged for his surgery at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital in California - a long trip away from our home in Massachusetts. We knew it would be tough, but we didn’t foresee the wrench Covid would throw in our plans. We flew out for surgery in January, but the family came down with Covid and his surgery was cancelled. We got back on the schedule in February and flew out again. This time Teddy tested positive for Covid at a prescreening appointment. Surgery was cancelled again.
Both times we had planned on staying at the Ronald McDonald House, but had to leave due to their Covid policies. Two unexpected hotel stays to isolate were an expense we hadn’t planned!
The hospital has told us that, if we stay in the area, we may be able to take advantage of another surgery date on short notice. We can apply to go back to Ronald McDonald House, but not until 20 days from the positive Covid test. So we find ourselves with a third extended hotel stay while we wait.
Funds raised will help pay for our unplanned housing expenses.
This help will mean so much to our family. After traveling twice for surgery, we just want to see our boy healed. These delays have been absolutely gut wrenching for us and watching the bills pile up has made it even more stressful. Anything you can manage helps us a lot.
