Help Teddy Beat Eye Cancer
Hey there, I'm Meg and this is my best boy, Teddy Bear. He was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in his right eye and needs surgery ASAP before they take over his eye socket. On 7-31-21, he saw Dr. Curto at Ophthalmology for Animals in Monterey, CA. She recommended a CT Scan and is willing to do an enucleation surgery + take off as much tumor tissue as she can. This would likely be palliative only though and would hopefully give him a couple more months to live comfortably and give me time to plan a last hurrah together with him.
The ophthalmologist consult fee was $309 and has already been paid on my Care Credit card. The surgical quote was $2,380 and has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Aug 10th, 2021. I have yet to get a quote for the CT scan though so surgery may have to be pushed back. I plan to call more clinics tomorrow with the hopes of finding one that will work with me to make the diagnostics not only quick but affordable.
About Teddy: He is a senior GSD I adopted in 2018 from the amazing Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue. Thulani covers his medical care, including all his medications (of which he is on daily meloxicam, gabapentin, amantadine, and 2x weekly adequan), yearly wellness checks, including full senior blood panels, and multiple major surgeries, but they do not cover cancer treatments.
...and the cost is something I cannot cover alone.
I've only had him for three years, but in those three years, it feels as if he has lived several lifetimes. I am not ready to give up on him just yet! Whether you can only donate a single dollar or share my fundraiser on your social media, I sincerely appreciate whatever you can give for my sweet old man. He still loves all food (no, seriously, ALL food), splashing in the ocean, digging in the sand with a big smile on his face, swimming at his hydrotherapy sessions, chomping on his ball, and using his big ol' nose for scent work.
