Help Team Outtaspace Race to Alaska!

Hi! We're Team Outtaspace, Homer, AK's first Race to Alaska team.

R2AK is a 750-mile engineless self-supported endurance race--the longest of its kind--from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, AK. There are no safety nets, care packages, or shortcuts. Propulsion comes from blood, sweat, and tears; or by the graces of Mother Nature. The race is a purely self-sufficient mission that will test the limits of our endurance, skill, and equipment.

Our vessel S/V Ripley is an Alien 21, the peak of early 80's sportboat design from Down Under. We need your help to outfit this frail, fiberglass, 21ft bath toy with new rigging, safety measures, and a paltry few creature comforts. Holes need to be patched, ball bearings retrieved from under the couch, and spiders evicted.

Some major costs for us include transporting the boat 2500 miles south, provisioning for multiple weeks of non-stop exertion, and safety equipment like survival suits and an EPIRB. Your donation will keep the boat afloat, quite literally!

We will have regular updates here on gofundme all the way through our (hopeful) finish in Ketchikan. In addition, we'll be making a film throughout the process and will prominently feature all of our lovely donor's names
