We are Team LIT (Lunatecs in Training), a local community robotics team made up of girls and boys ages 9-14 from East Greenwich, Mullica Hill, Swedesboro and West Deptford.

We have some huge news: We’re headed to the FIRST Lego League World Championship in Houston, Texas!

After months of hard work, research, and trial-and-error, our team is ready to represent South Jersey on an international stage. To make our way to Houston, we need your help!

Our Journey: From the Lab to the Field
The theme for this year’s FIRST season is “Unearthed,” and teams were asked to create a problem-solving project in the world of archaeology. Our season started with a trip to Fort Mifflin, where we learned how archaeobotanists process ancient plant samples. We were lucky enough to meet Dr. Chantel White, an Archeobotanist from the University of Pennsylvania. After interviewing Dr. White, we discovered a major problem: it is very difficult and expensive to get essential tools—specifically flotation systems—to remote dig sites.

The Innovation: Meet "The Floop"
We decided to tackle this challenge head-on. Our team spent the season researching, designing, and testing a way to make these systems safer and more cost-effective. The result? The Floop—a flotation system built from accessible materials that can be found in most local hardware stores that will help scientists anywhere in the world.

Why We Need You!
Our team now has the opportunity to showcase our hard work from this season on the biggest stage in youth robotics. There will be teams from all over the world at this event, and we are the only team from South Jersey who will attend! We have worked since September on building and coding a robot, finding a project topic, creating The Floop, doing hands-on research in our region, and fine-tuning our presentation for the judges.

Going to the World championship is a dream come true, but the costs are high. With your financial support, our dream of presenting at Worlds will become a reality. We ask you to consider celebrating our big win with us by giving to Team LIT today!
