Who We Are
We are Team FIX IT 3491, a small community-based FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Our team comprises six students—Kai, Leo, Jasper, Ryan, Jason, and Max—united by a shared passion for robotics, learning, and a desire to inspire and innovate within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Over the years, FIX IT 3491 has not only built amazing robots but also has a legacy of excellence, community service, and STEM advocacy. You might recognize us from local events, as community outreach and raising awareness are at the heart of our team’s mission and values.
Our Journey
Our path to the 2024 FIRST World Championships began when we secured the THINK award at the regional qualifier in February. This award recognizes our ability to remove engineering obstacles through creative thinking.
A month later, at FIRST Tech Challenge BC/Yukon Championship, we won the 1st Place INSPIRE award (for the second consecutive year) and earned the first advancement invitation to the World Championships in Houston, Texas from April 17 to 20, 2024! The INSPIRE award is the top honor awarded at FIRST competitions and recognizes the team that best embodies the following criteria:
- Strong ambassador for FIRST programs
- Role model FIRST team
- Top contender for various judged awards
- Gracious competitor
- Inspiration to other teams
- Exemplifies Gracious Professionalism® both on and off the playing field
- Shares their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge with other teams, sponsors, their community, and the judges
Why We Need Your Help
We are honored to represent Victoria on the world stage. However, our team faces a significant hurdle: raising $15,000 ($2500/person) to ensure that all six team members can attend the FIRST World Championship, which is just 6 weeks away. This event is more than a competition; it's a celebration of innovation, hard work, and the bright future of STEM. By participating, we gain invaluable learning experiences, the chance to share ideas, and the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams globally.
How Your Support Helps

- Airfare for team members
- Accommodation in Houston for the duration of the championship
- Transportation of our robot and equipment to the event
- Registration fees for the competition
