Hello folks!

We are the parents of 12 year-old, Teagan. She is an honor roll student, a World Champion Black Belt in Taekwondo, a White/Grey Belt with Gracie Jiu Jitsu and recently played on three softball teams simultaneously.

Our daughter was misdiagnosed and treated for Asthma for over six years now. It was only at a recent BJJ tournament in New Orleans that she collapsed on the mat and the medics rushed to her side. (
She did win the Silver medal however!)

The attending medics asked us if she had any heart conditions to which we replied, “no.” However, the medics insisted we take Teagan to a cardiologist upon returning home to Florida.

The initial CT scan shocked us all. Teagan has an extremely rare and dangerous case of Solo Coronary Artery Abnormality; which may require full, open heart surgery and has forced her to stop all competition sports until her condition is rectified which has been heartbreaking for this young, athletic warrior.

Her Mother and I have traveled to Orlando for testing and were informed the level of her needs exceeds their abilities so we are headed to Texas Children’s in Houston for testing the entire week of Aug 5 thru Aug 10.

- 8/6 is general testing (I.e.: Blood tests, EKG, Treadmill stress, CT Scan)
- 8/7 is MRI / Nuclear stress test
- 8/8 off day (To allow her heart to rest)
- 8/9 is Heart Cath / Angiogram
- 8/10 fly home

Doctor is, Dr. Silvana Molossi, Head of Coronary Artery Abnormalities Team for Texas Children’s.

We hope to know more upon our return and are humbly seeking donations to assist us with medical and travel expenses as her Mother and I will have to take off work to travel with Teagan and attend to her after her open heart surgery.

We will continue to post updates as they become known.

Airfare for our family has been almost $6k thus far, Hotel stays around $1500 and while our insurance covers the majority of the test costs, out-of-pocket totals average $450 to $1,000 per test.

Any donations will go to offset the cost of travel of the Orlando, Houston and any future trips needed for the actual open-heart surgery (if required).
