Suspended for Objecting to Critical Race Theory

I work as a secondary school teacher in Ontario, Canada, in a publicly funded board.

In a union meeting Friday, April 9, I raised objections to the critical race theory indoctrination happening in my education workplace. 

The following Monday morning (2 hours ago as I write this), I got a phone call from the school board -- I have been suspended from work pending an investigation. 

Simple as that. Nothing more to the story. I have no history of complaints made against me or any serious conflict at work. I have been teaching for nearly 20 years.

I am asking for financial help to pay legal fees and bring media attention to the serious matter of CRT indoctrination in schools (and, by extension, the larger cultural revolution that is wreaking havoc in our society).

The following is just one small example of the kind of indoctrination that I am objecting to. These excerpts below are from a document that was distributed to Ontario teachers by School Mental Health Ontario (you can find it in full on this site: smho-smso.ca).  This document suggests (without providing evidence or data) that our society is currently plagued with a wave of murders and assaults of Black people by White people:

"In recent years, and increasingly in recent months, we’ve seen deaths and injuries to many Black women and men at the hands of violent police officers and White people. Seen across media channels, this has ignited important protests around the world.

This has reaffirmed the need to acknowledge and take action to end anti-Black racism. Racism is a lived reality for Black Canadians, with devastating consequences for individuals, families, and communities. It is systemic in nature, as certain systems are put in place to create and perpetuate racial injustice and inequality in the lives of Black people."

The same document further along, ironically, urges the following of teachers:

"Share factual information and reduce the spread of rumours. Using accurate information about people, events, reactions and feelings is empowering. Use language that is developmentally-appropriate for children, and ensure the information is based on facts. It is especially important to correct negative statements made or heard in the media about any specific group. Invite students to correct you too."

I spoke up because I wish to correct negative statements made about my own so-called "specific group" and because I truly believe that children of all races are being harmed by this ideology. And I was suspended for doing so. Clearly, we are not free to speak out against the racism inherent in "Antiracism" and the damage this ideology is causing in our society.
