You probably already know Sarah. You probably already know how sweet, caring, and funny Sarah is and you probably already know how much she is loved and adored by her family, friends, students, and coworkers. Sarah is so many things to so many people and relentlessly gives to others, but now she really needs your help more than ever. 

Less than a year after Sarah's initial cancer diagnosis (which included several weeks of excruciating chemotherapy and radiation treatments), her cancer is unfortunately back. This time around, it has metastasized to the abdomen and spread to her lymphnodes. Despite all of this, Sarah is still upbeat and ready to keep up the fight! This is  our Sarah after all, she's sure as heck not letting anything stop her! 

This time around, treatment will consist of chemotherapy, which will be much more intense and a much higher dose. It will consist of (3) 8-10 hour sessions, and if successful, she will have an additional 3-6 sessions. Her doctors are optimistic about her prognosis, but this will be a long road towards recovery and hopeful remission. Sarah has so far successfully completed 1 chemo session, but has had some complications along the way, requiring hospitalization on and off since Jan 2nd. 

Here's where you come in...

Sarah is as independent as they come, so asking for help does not come easy for her. I had to convince  her to let me start this Go Fund Me and it took several weeks for her and Jeff to agree to this fundraiser. They do not want to burden anybody, but we are all here to support Sarah during this difficult journey and we want to help!

Costs of cancer treatments are astronomical. It's hard to stay above water financially when hit with such a diagnosis and sustain so many complications at the beginning, let alone stay positive and healthy through treatments. It is my goal (and hopefully yours) to help raise enough money so that Sarah does not have to worry about the financial stresses during treatment. Any and all support is greatly appreciated, no donation is too small.  Sarah is still dealing with medical bills from her last round of treatments a year ago, so seriously, any help at all is a big deal. 

Not sure how much to donate? Something to consider...

Consider how much you pay for your health insurance premium and co-pays every month. Consider how much  15+ medications cost, some of which may be life-long and expensive. Consider the cost of an unexpected Emergency Room visit (Sarah has had at least 4 ER visits in the last 2 months). Consider how much a hospital stay is (Sarah's had 2 long hospital stays already -- basically the entire month of January). Consider how much home health nursing care costs twice per week. Consider how much you pay for physical therapy sessions. Consider how much you spend per month on groceries and gas. Consider the cost of basic medical supplies, of which Sarah has many. Consider how much it is to simply pay rent in the San Francisco Bay Area. I say these things to hopefully bring some perspective to what Sarah's reality is, and how much she could really use your help right now. 

As of today, SARAH IS GETTING DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL!! It's been almost 2 weeks since she's been home.
