Hello to everyone who reads this. My name is Xavier and I am starting a fundraiser for Teacher Carla.

Carla is a 37 year old Special Education teacher from the Philippines. She has dedicated her life and time in helping teach children who have special needs. In November 2023, she was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare, chronic, autoimmune disease that causes weakness in voluntary muscles, particularly affecting the eyes, face, throat, and limbs. This is especially high-risk as it can also affect the muscles that help you breathe. After a year, doctors discovered a thymoma (a rare, and slow-growing tumor on the thymus gland). Teacher Carla needs a thymectomy surgery as soon as she is medically cleared. Our dear teacher also has diabetes and hypertension, which further complicates her situation.

Recently, she was hospitalized due to pneumonia—a complication brought about by her Myasthenia Gravis. The hospital bill reached ₱131,000 (USD 2,300). On top of this, her monthly medication bills amount to ₱18,000 (USD300). As a result of her condition, she is often on leave from work. This results in her leave credits getting depleted fast. Thus, when she gets sick enough that she is unable to get up from her bed, much less go to work, she is left with no choice but to not get paid.

She is a teacher in Philippines. Her meager earnings can no longer cover her medical bills, medications, and upcoming surgery.

I’m humbly asking for your help to support Teacher Carla's treatment, surgery, and recovery. Any amount you can share will mean so much to her, her family and me. Every cent brings her closer to recovery, a better quality of life, and the chance for her to teach the children again.

I understand that life is hard for all of us and not everyone has the means to donate. Sharing and spreading this would mean just as much to her and me.

All funds will go towards paying for her medications, hospital bills and surgery.
