Hi, my name is Jessica, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my dear friend and her beloved dog, Taz.
Taz is a 9-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is so much more than a pet—he is her certified emotional support dog, best friend, and family. Until recently, Taz was full of energy, happy, and completely healthy.
Over the past several days, Taz became suddenly and seriously ill, requiring multiple emergency vet visits. He developed a severe infection that caused dangerous pressure to build in and behind his eye. If left untreated—even for a matter of hours—this condition can lead to permanent blindness.
Despite aggressive treatment with four different eye drops, Taz’s eye pressure reached 65. For reference, normal eye pressure is between 10–25. Anything above that is considered dangerous. Sadly, Taz lost his vision within 24 hours.
So far, my friend has paid:
$800 in emergency veterinary visits
$170 in medications
Unfortunately, the pressure has not gone down enough, and the veterinarians have explained that Taz’s eye will need to be surgically removed to prevent him from living in constant, chronic pain. The estimated cost of the surgery is $2,000–$4,000, depending on what they encounter during the procedure.
The hopeful news is that Taz is otherwise completely healthy. The vet has told her that once the surgery is done, he can go on to live a full, happy, pain-free life. Dogs adapt incredibly well to losing an eye—and Taz still has so much life and love left to give.
This situation has come during an already difficult financial time for my friend, and the sudden emergency costs have been overwhelming. She has done everything she can for Taz, but she can’t do this alone.
We are asking for help to cover:
Emergency vet visits
Medications
Eye removal surgery
Follow-up care and recovery
Any amount—no matter how small—will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read Taz’s story and for helping give him the chance to live without pain.
