Help Taylor Recover from Autoimmune Encephalitis

A devoted wife, a loving sister and daughter, a caring friend, a beautiful soul. These are the words I would describe my best friend, Taylor Harris.

Taylor and Matt Harris, who recently got married in October 2023, are experiencing an obstacle that no young couple should have to face. Taylor was admitted to the hospital on March 07, 2025, and is currently battling a rare DPPX antibody-associated autoimmune encephalitis.

Taylor's symptoms before being admitted included extreme fatigue, confusion, memory loss, and difficulty speaking. These worsening symptoms led to her being admitted to the hospital, and after weeks of tests, doctors diagnosed her with a rare autoimmune condition that causes her immune system to attack her brain.

Since then, she has endured a lengthy ICU stay (including 12 days of being on a breathing tube), seizures, plasma exchange therapy to remove harmful antibodies, and weeks of intensive care.

Taylor has since been off a breathing tube and is showing some signs of improvement - she recognizes people, can track movement, and is slowly regaining strength. However, the journey Taylor and Matt have to face for Taylor to recover from this disease will be long and costly. From the lengthy hospital stay to intense treatments that Taylor will receive, these will prove to be a financial burden on the Harrises.

Donations for this fundraiser will go towards medical expenses including hospital stays, therapy, follow-up treatments, rehabilitation, and daily living costs.
