Help Taylor and Mike prepare for TRIPLETS!

Donation protected
Mike and Taylor have spent the past few years trying to manage Taylor’s PCOS. With wanting a baby of their own to add to their blended family, they faced the reality that they may have to go the route of conceiving with the help of a fertility clinic.

They had a phone consultation with a recommended clinic in Victoria but before they could start this process, they were over the moon to learn they had conceived naturally.

They called the fertility clinic to let them know the great news and the doctor offered to do an ultrasound and assess the viability of the pregnancy. This is where they learned that they had spontaneous tri-tri triplets! Meaning each triplet has its own placenta and amniotic sac.

This was immediately flagged as a high risk pregnancy and they were put in contact with MFM (maternal fetal medicine.)
Due to the complications and risks of a triplet pregnancy, the babies have to be born in Victoria where they are more equipped to manage multiples.

While Mike has to continue working away from home, Taylor has to move to Victoria at 30 weeks so she can be closer to their medical team. Depending on the needs of the babies when they are born, they are expected to be in Victoria up to several months, leaving behind their sons Rowan and Finn, as well as their home and pets.

Any funds donated will be used to help off set the costs of moving to the city. This will be to help with living arrangements, fuel for Mike to travel back and forth from work to home to Victoria, as well as maintaining their home and family back in Campbell River. Any little bit helps as they try to keep their family together as much as possible over this holiday season!

On top of the stress of moving up island, they are also looking for a larger vehicle to accommodate their now family of seven.
If there are any remaining funds after these concerns have been addressed, they will be allocated to a diaper and formula fund to help this young family navigate this overwhelming, yet exciting time!

Taylor had been dedicated to providing compassionate and quality care for children for most of her life, but professionally for the last 14 years. She works hard to stay up to date on what best practice looks like for the children and families she cares for.

Now its our time to help support Taylor's growing family, growing in a way very few ever have to prepare for TRIPLETS.

A few facts:
  • When you have multiple births, you only receive one maternity leave.
  • Multiple pregnancies are generally considered higher risk and often children are born earlier than singletons.
  • There is no additional financial support provided for parents of multiples to help facilitate responsive caregiving and adequate support.
  • They recommend for parents of multiples to hire someone to assist in caregiving for the first months of life. As many of us know, having one baby to care for is full of challenges, having 3 at one time, can often come with many more.
