Help Taura Heal: A Heartbeat of Tucson’s Queer Rock Scene
Donation protected
Our dear friend Taura is facing a challenging road ahead. She needs a septoplasty with turbinate reduction, which will require an extended recovery, leaving her unable to work. As a community, we’re coming together to support her through this difficult time.
If you’ve been part of Tucson’s underground protest music and arts scene, you probably know Taura. She isn’t just a supporter—she’s a dedicated force, always showing up to uplift the bands and artists she believes in. A champion and advocate of queer protest rock, a loyal supporter of local queer protest rock band The Copper Queens, and the kind of person who makes the scene stronger by simply being in it. From running the merch table to cheering at shows, to protesting for causes she believes in- Taura gives her time, energy, and heart to the community. Now, she needs us.
Taura is also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities. She knows firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate healthcare and financial stability while living with a disability. She shares her life with a beloved service dog, who helps her maintain independence and navigate daily life. Despite her own challenges, she has always been there to support others, whether by showing up for queer artists, creating inclusive spaces, or offering kindness and encouragement to those who need it most.
Beyond her role in the music scene, Taura is a brilliant and talented artist, crafting everything from jewel-studded lighters and handmade clothing to crocheted beanie-clavas. Creativity is at the heart of who she is, and she pours that same passion into building an inclusive, supportive space for others. Like so many in the arts, she’s been navigating tough times, already making sacrifices to stay afloat. She currently lives with The Copper Queens’ singer so they can support one another and continue building the community they believe in.
This surgery is necessary for Taura’s health, but missing work for recovery is financially devastating. We need to raise $6,000 to help cover medical expenses and lost income. Every donation—big or small—helps ensure she can heal without the crushing weight of financial stress.
If Taura has ever sold you a t-shirt, cheered you on at a local show, or simply made your world a little brighter, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Let’s show up for someone who always shows up for us.
Thank you for your love and support!
