Hi, I am Maybelle Ann, the niece of Tata Dan, and I am looking after him here in Kelowna.

Our beloved Tata Dan is a 70-year-old man with a heart as big as his smile. A devoted Christian, he has lived his life in service to God and others. Though he has never married or had children of his own, he has dedicated himself to caring for his nieces, nephews, and their children—loving them as if they were his own. His kindness, generosity, faith, and quiet strength have touched everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, while visiting Canada as a tourist to help support our family and care for our children, Tata Dan suffered a sudden heart attack. This happened right after we returned home to Kelowna from Vancouver, where we had been for my child’s surgery at BC Children’s Hospital—one of his beloved grandkids. In the midst of being there for us during a difficult time, his own health crisis struck without warning.

Just three days later, on August 12, he underwent urgent, life-saving coronary bypass surgery.

This has been an overwhelming and unexpected turn of events for our family. Being far from home and with no immediate family of his own here, Tata Dan now faces not only the challenges of recovery but also the heavy financial burden of medical care, recovery expenses, and the costs of staying in Canada while he heals.
