Help Tassie Recover from Emergency Surgery

Donation protected

Hi, I am asking for help with an emergency vet bill for our dog, Tassie, aka Tassiebelle, or just Belle Belle. She came into our lives in 2019 when she could no longer stay in her current living arrangements. I was not looking for a dog, but when I saw her picture and heard her story, I contacted the lease company to get dog approval. My daughter loved animals, and Tassie was for her, short for Tasmania. We were told she was spayed and had shots. We couldn’t get any records on that to confirm, so another rabies shot didn’t hurt, and our vet saw a scar consistent with spaying. She’s been on Simparica since we have had her, and we have had a couple of ER vet visits with her before.
She has experienced false pregnancy, and with the history we had, the vet said it could be ovarian remnant syndrome. We didn’t consider pregnancy an issue because we were assuming she had no uterus after spaying, and it was a hormone issue.

I lost my daughter in 2020, and Tassie stayed in the bed with me for 4 days. Tassie was on antidepressants then, and she was having as hard of a time as I was. Tassie is my family, just like my dad, sisters, or husband.

On 7/7/25, we took her to the vet because she was lethargic, not eating, not herself. We knew she had been through a hormonal cycle and thought it was another false pregnancy. Her symptoms were lasting longer and seemed more severe, so we got her checked out. On this ER visit, we learned Tassie was never spayed and had pyometra. I wish I had just requested for her to be scanned for everything when we got her, so that was on me. She is an older dog; we were told 4 when we got her, so 10 now, if that’s even correct. Her labs were off, they thought she may have internal bleeding, but ruled that out. She’s had a hard time with surgery and had to stay three nights at the hospital. Vet bill in total is over $3900. I did have a 3.99% APR offer on a card I activated for this situation, but we are trying to pay it off before the promo APR ends in February, so anything will help. I don’t expect this to fully cover her costs, and I’m not looking for anyone’s bill money, but any amount is welcome to help us to help us cover this unexpected expense. All funds will go directly to this card.
