My name is Amalia Viitanen, and I created this GoFundMe for Tasneem, a 17-year-old from Mafraq, Jordan. Tasneem is the daughter of my dear friends Ahmed and Nargis, who are like family to me. She is a bright, kind, and mature young woman who loves going to school and dreams of graduating, learning English, and becoming a flight attendant.
Two years ago, Tasneem was diagnosed with a tumor in her pituitary gland, located in her brain. As the tumor has grown, it has caused an excess of growth hormone, compressed her optic nerves, and affected surrounding brain structures. This has led to severe headaches, loss of peripheral vision, extreme fatigue, irregular periods, and weight loss. These symptoms have made it difficult for Tasneem to keep up with her studies, participate in social activities, and maintain her overall mental well-being.
Covering the high costs of medical exams and treatments has been incredibly challenging for her family. Over the past two years, they have had to sacrifice basic needs to pay for Tasneem’s care. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward medical bills, treatments at clinics, medical exams, travel expenses for treatments, medications not covered, and possible surgery and hospitalization. Your generous contribution will help ease the financial burden on her parents and give them hope for Tasneem’s recovery by allowing access to better doctors and treatments.
