Help Tasha with Cancer treatment Expenses

My name is Angela, Tasha Johnstons sister. I have created this Go Fund me account to raise money for my sister’s immediate medical expenses that start November 23,2021.

Tasha was diagnosed in June of 2021 with ductal carcinoma breast cancer and DCIS in other spots. She immediately had a double mastectomy and will now start treatments which consist of Tamoxifen for 5 years and radiation. Tasha must live in Kelowna for 5 weeks to receive daily treatments and with this comes a lot of unforeseen expenses such as accommodation, travel, and meals.

The hardest part for this family and next step of this cancer journey is being away from each other, juggling kids’ schedules and not being able to work. Her husband Glen will do his best to balance shift work away from home and looking after their two children Paige (14) and Parker (12) who are both very busy with extracurricular activities.

Tasha has been off work for 6 months and able to collect EI (a portion of her regular income) but it runs out in 5 weeks, half way through treatments. My goal is to raise funds to take away the financial burden/stress from the family so Tasha can heal without “How do we pay the bills worry?” and Glen can do what is needed for the family’s best wellbeing while also not worrying about all the additional expenses, especially during this time of year.

Tasha and Glen never stop volunteering or giving back in any way they can. Some examples of this are:

• Billet home to the Dynamiters KIJHL since 2010

• Volunteering on the executive board for over 10 yrs and helping with fundraising

• Managed/coached many sports teams from hockey to baseball even before they had children involved

Maybe now it is our turn to give back to them, help them through this rough patch.
