Help Tasha and Michael Reunite with Their Children

We are Wings to Freedom Foundation, www.wingstofreedomfoundation.org, and we are fundraising to support Tasha Patterson and her husband, Michael.
Almost three years ago, their babies were taken away due to suspected abuse. However, it has since been discovered that both Tasha and her children have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a genetic condition that may have contributed to the misunderstood circumstances.
We are reaching out on behalf of Tasha and Michael Patterson, a loving couple whose lives were turned upside down by a heartbreaking series of events. Tasha’s journey into motherhood began with immense joy, but her dreams of raising her twin boys were shattered when their children were removed from their care at 8 weeks, due to allegations of abuse—allegations that medical evidence now shows were unfounded.
Tasha has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a genetic condition that affects connective tissues and can lead to brittle bones. It has since been determined by multiple medical experts, including geneticists and radiologists, that her twins also likely inherited this condition. The fractures and injuries that led to the abuse allegations were consistent with this medical diagnosis—not abuse.
Despite evidence from seven medical experts confirming this, the accusing pediatrician's assessment led to the termination of Tasha and Michael’s parental rights. Their children were sent to the fostering system, leaving Tasha and Michael devastated and fighting for justice.
This tragedy highlights a severe flaw in the system. Not only did Tasha and Michael lose their children and Michael's son from a previous relationship, but Tasha also lost her career in healthcare, and their family has endured relentless emotional and financial hardship. Despite all of this, Tasha and Michael are not giving up on their faith in getting their sons back, who are now almost 3 years of age. They are appealing the decision, armed with compelling evidence and a steadfast determination to reunite their family.
Unfortunately, time is of the essence. The Pattersons are in the midst of their second appeal, and if they lose this critical case, their children could be permanently adopted out to another family. This would be a heartbreaking and irreversible loss for Tasha and Michael, who have spent years gathering evidence and advocating for their children’s return.
Through these unimaginable challenges, Michael and Tasha’s faith in God has kept them strong. They remain hopeful and steadfast, leaning on their faith as they fight for their children and trust in God’s plan.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate to their legal fund to support the ongoing appeal process.
2. Share their story to raise awareness about the misdiagnosis of EDS and the systemic issues within child protective services.
3. Advocate for reforms that prevent other families from enduring such heartbreaking injustices.
Tasha and Michael are fighting not only for their children but also for other families who may face similar circumstances. Their love for their children is unwavering, and they need your help to bring their family back together.
A recent report from WSVN pertains to this case.
