Help Tari Switch Gears

Hi! I'm Tari. Just like everybody else, I had quite a wild ride in 2020. I'm incredibly blessed and grateful or the family and friends who have held me up during the saga that has been my life since February of last year.

I won't get into the gory details, but the shape of it is this: back injury, chronic, debilitating pain, treatment dead ends, failed hysterectomy, suicidal depression, and too young for disability.

So. I have to find a way to make a living that fits into the few hours a day I can hunch over a computer without excruciating pain. None of my previous professional experience works that way - especially because I do not have the hustle in me. Maybe it will come back, but I don't have it now.

The solution I've come up with is medical coding. It's work from home, even after the pandemic; builds on my previous experience in the insurance industry; has flexible hours; and pays enough to live on part time work.

The trick is, I need to be certified - which means training. That requires money, of which I have none. Yet again in this ordeal, I need to ask for help.

This is where you come in - hopefully? I need to raise about $5,000 to pay for :

* training (through the American Association of Professional Coders, the most reputable industry organization, and thus the best chance of getting solid training and access to better jobs)

* books (these are updated every year, so there's not much ability to get used copies, even for training)

* certification itself

Anything above that would cover living expenses while I'm training and looking for work.

I'm hoping to start training during one of the AAPC's March sessions, if that is at all possible.

I know 2020 has hurt so many, and I'm one of the lucky ones. I know this is a big ask - and I wish I wasn't asking. I am asking, though, in hopes of finding a sustainable way to support myself.

I hope if 2020 has been kinder to you, that you will consider donating to my cause; and if you can't donate, but you still want to help, you can share this GoFundMe with your social networks in case someone that you know is in a position to help me out.

I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this and listen to my story, and even consider helping out.

In These Uncertain Times, I hope that you're wearing a mask and planning to get a vaccine when one is available to you, and that you and your loved ones are all safe and well. Thanks again.
